Wet underfloor heating
Warm water runs through pipes in the floor, with a manifold and a control for each room. It works with a heat pump.

Wet underfloor heating is warm water in pipes under the floor. A manifold splits the loops, and each room has its own control. It works with a heat pump, and with radiators in the rooms that stay on radiators.
The pipes go on overlay or low-profile panels, or in the screed. On a new extension they are clipped to the insulation before the floor goes down.
What the job involves
- Setting out the pipe and clipping it down
- The manifold, with flow meters
- A control for each room
- Filling and testing the loops
What I check
- Floor build-up, and whether it is panels or screed
- Where the manifold can go
- The heat source, including a heat pump
- Each room, so the loops are balanced

Underfloor heating was part of a whole-house job in Alderley Edge. See the project.
I don't do boiler or gas work.
Questions
Is this electric underfloor heating?
No. This is wet underfloor heating: warm water in pipes, with a manifold and a control for each room.
Will it work with a heat pump?
Yes. Wet underfloor heating works well with a heat pump. I check the floor build-up and the heat source first.
Do you do the boiler as well?
No. I don't do boiler or gas work. If the heat source is a gas boiler, you need a Gas Safe engineer for that part.
